Where to next then ?
Hmmm. Good question that. Now given large amounts of cash I'm perfectly sure that I could think of somewhere but at the moment my financial options seem to be down to winning 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' , murdering a previously unsuspected rich relative or popping down to the bank with a Balaclava Helmet and a shotgun. None of those seem terribly  good solutions.

The trouble with travelling is that its so damned depressing coming back and the most depressing thing of all is that NOTHING changes while you are away. You get back and slip immediately into the same old routine, drinking the same beer in the same pubs while having the same conversations with the same people as before you left.
The trouble with coming back is that it makes you feel as if you hadn't been away.

As for where to next. Ask me again when I have more money.

The trip described below is the one I've just come back from. Pages of photographs can be found by following the Trip 2001 link from the Home Page.
I started in London on April 9th and immediately things changed. The map has me going down through Bulgaria. In fact we went through France and Italy then by ferry to Greece and from Greece to Turkey.
Following the Southern coast of Turkey  I eventually crossed into Syria then down into Jordan and across for a week in Egypt where I followed the Nile down to Aswan. After thatwe raced  back to Turkey and East towards Iran.
Travelling straight down through the middle of Iran we missed Tehran altogether the next border crossing was into Pakistan.
Then it was  up into northern Pakistan and a look at the Khyber Pass before crossing into...
...China where a few weeks heading South will finally brought me down to Guilin which is a as lovely a spot as exists on Earth even if it has become insanely commercialised since my last visit there.
Heading back West I skirted the Border of Viet Nam and turned South to go through Laos and into Thailand where I headed straight across the country to Bangkok.
Finally it wass off down the East Coast of Malaysia finishing up in Singapore for a few days before coming home.
Things went more or less according to plan in terms of where and when we were going. There were problems - almost a week's delay in Pakistan getting our Chinese visas, a couple of days in Southern China at a major landslide, various minor punctures, landslips and bogging down of the truck all come to mind. On the whole thought things went smoothly enough that the problems were all just diversions and adventures rather than anything to get bothered about.
Now I have to work out exactly what I'm doing next with my life.
Hmmm. Gonna need some thought.
